Imaginature: Marc Dauwe

As a nature photographer you’re spending a lot of hours ‘out there’. It is impossible to deny the increasing environmental problems and the astronomical speed of extinction of species (12.000 today on the brink of disappearing) we face, even in our protected areas such as national parks or nature reserves. It is even noticeable in your own surroundings, if you simply compare numbers and species of butterflies, birds, insects and small mammals you observe today versus your childhood years ! One cannot believe this amazing biodiversity as a result of millions of years of evolution would be destroyed in only a few decades….

‘In the end, our society will be defined not only by what we create but by what we refuse to destroy’ - John Sawhill, past president of the Nature Conservancy.
